Another Victory for Allegra and Beneteau
date: 15-05-2007

Beneteau has once again stolen the show during the OilTanking Vega Offshore race, organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club on the 12th May 2007.

The race, sponsored by OilTanking, consisted of a 45-mile leg out of Malta, rounding the Vega oil platform just off the Sicilian coast, and returning back to Malta on the reciprocal course.  Wind conditions were continually changing, making for some challenging tactics and course routing.   The fluky winds and swell made sailing even more challenging for the boats, especially after dusk.

The first boat crossed the finish line at 12:30am on the 13th May, after 16 hours of racing.   Overall honours were however taken by "Allegra", the Beneteau First 47.7 that only recently won the RMYC Marzamemi regatta.   Following closely in second place was "Maltese Falcon", a Beneteau First 40.7 whilst third place went to the Ker 11.3 "Kerisma".
