Med Yacht Sales appointed Lagoon dealers
date:
26-02-2010
Last week, Construction Naval Bordeaux (CNB) appointed Mediterranean Yacht Sales to represent locally their popular brand of Catamarans – Lagoon. Created in 1984, the Lagoon brand was originally a development of Jeanneau’s racing division (Jeanneau Advanced Techniques) with its first breakthrough being made in the racing monohulls and multihulls sector (Pierre 1er, the Fleury Michons, etc.). Over the years, Lagoon also responded to a number of unusual requests, such as the building of the trimarans for Kevin Costner’s Waterworld. Following Beneteau’s and Jeanneau’s association in 1995, Lagoon moved from Nantes to the premises of CNB in Bordeaux.
Lagoon is now part of the Beneteau Group and offers an exclusive choice of cruising catamarans from 38 to 67 feet, designed by naval architects Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot Prévost (VPLP) whose record on the multihull racing circuit is unmatched. Incidentally, also recently, VPLP were the principal naval architects of the 33rd America’s Cup trimaran BMWOracle Racing.

The Lagoon catamarans of the first generation, the 47, 55, 57 and 67 were launched between 1987 and 1996: boats made for sailors that enjoyed long distance cruising. At the time production was limited but enough to establish the reputation of the range based on some strong principles: good looks, a high quality construction and better than average performances.
1996 saw the birth of a new generation of Lagoons which conquered the market immediately by adding the following fundamentals: maximum protection from the sun, maximum use of the available volumes (hence the vertical windows which became the Lagoon trademark), more comfort and better awareness of private clients’ requirements. This product revolution was enhanced by the appointment of a strong distribution network where the centralised order system was replaced by worldwide independent distributors who played a decisive role in the extraordinary growth of Lagoon. Of their very popular 380 only, so far Lagoon have built over 600 units.
Today the Lagoon worldwide dealership network includes over 60 representatives. Click the lagoon logo below to visit the official Lagoon Catamaran website
